2015-17 Board of Directors
People who serve on your BOD are volunteers, who get no compensation and pay to attend the Reunion just like all participants. The only difference is they pay up to a year early to give the board working capital. They also pay for other fundraising activities from their personal funds. Here is why they do it:
Participating on the FSBH Board has been a real enjoyment. All of the events associated with the Reunion weekend are so much fun. I love reuniting that flame and my contribution to the reuniting of old and new friends and classmates. I enjoy that we are able to give back to some determined students, a chance to further their education or training.

My reason for participating on the FSBH Board is that of giving back to the school and community that I grew up in, flourished and loved in. I find it very rewarding to participate and work with a great group of individuals that have the ability to agree to disagree with the different tasks that are assigned to the FSBH Board. It is not just about hosting a reunion every 2 years but about the building of a great unit for the fulfillment of 250 to 300 people for a 3-day weekend whereby people come together to reunite, have fun, enjoy one another and help to raise monies for scholarships for deserving students in the Gainesville/Hall County area.

My reason for participating on the FSBH Board is to keep the tradition going and to preserve our motto Preserving Our Legacy While Preparing for The Future.

My reason for participating on the FSBH Board is that I enjoy being a part of something so spectacular and enjoyable. I look forward to every two years’ event to be able to reunite with my siblings, classmates and friends. The volunteering is hard work, but very rewarding at the end.

Why I joined the board? My friends and classmates of my lifetime Theresa and Thomas. I joined hoping that I could assist our president and group in or with any measurable position within my ability. I was hoping to contribute by using my primary effort with any fund raising cause or causes for our scholarship program. I also joined hoping that I could assist the President and the group with making sound decisions and making our board efforts in the community better, I am military retired.
I continue today volunteering my community services with the American Legion Post 328 and the Rock Creek Vietnam Veterans Group, using my military experiences, applying and extending my services with insuring that we are being recognized in the community.

The reason I joined the board was to work with other board members, and to be an assistant to anyone that needs help in getting things together. I’m not very good at working on the computer but I’m willing to learn.

I am the Chaplain for the Fair Street Butler High Alumni Board. I “Thank” God for the opportunity to serve on this dynamic Board where there is friendliness and courtesy extended to each Board member.
I help to ensure the spiritual side of each member instilling in them the positive attitude that God will make a way out of no way and that if the Board keeps him first All things are possible.

I serve on the Board of Directors as coordinator of History/Memorabilia because I love History. I enjoy researching our past, collecting and preserving our memorabilia, and rekindling memories of bygone days. In short, it is a labor of love.

We love to be together and we love to contribute to our community and town that has been ours for entire lives. Where else could we contribute to a cause we love, with friends we love & be together, sharing our love for each other?
Bernice Wimpye, Event Registration Coordinator and James Wimpye, Parliamentarian
I have served as the Prom and Sock Hop coordinator for FSBH Reunion. What I have found most rewarding is working with Pat, Cynthia, Dorothy, Shirley, and volunteer workers Phyllis Edmonds and Mary Ann Turner. We have built a beautiful bond. We all work very hard from the beginning to the end and we have so much fun working hard together. I admit that it can be very stressful running to wholesale markets gathering the candy and ordering all of the balloons for the sock hop. Much work goes into the decorations and every event has turned out perfectly. These wonderful ladies pull together to make it happen with their loving and giving spirits! I guess you can say this organization and event have always been in my blood! My parents were both students at Fair Street High School. Blondie Summerour, my mother, served on the very first alumni board. My father Stanford Summerour, now deceased served as President of the Metro Gainesville-Atlanta Connection organization. I must admit that I have always felt such a great accomplishment in knowing that I’ve made my parents proud, to BE A MEMBER OF FSBH Alumni.

I never considered attending the FSBH Reunion until 2005. I felt it the reunion was designed for a few and focused on things not relevant to me. I finally came and had a wonderful time with people I had known well and some I had not been close to in high school. The latter showed me how things could be. I decided to work with the BOD hard to promote and ensure inclusiveness at the Reunion. Because it does not matter if you finished high school on time, late or never. It also should not matter that you were wronged in some way in high school. It is time to move on. So we say to all our classmates and other friends: If you feel a part of any specific class, you are. We welcome all who will come. I think the reunions of the past 10-12 years prove that they are a weekend of love and fun for all. This is due to the leadership and efforts of the BOD. I am honored to serve with them.
