Where did the cab companies go such as: The Neal Brothers had a company and my uncle Walter Partlow and his brothers owned Partlow Cab Company which was as we say “out the road” on Athens Highway. They had passengers that they transported to work, school or whatever there was a need and they were passengers that they could depend on from day to day and week to week. Can anybody out there call us a cab????

There are plenty of cabs in Big G if you are Mexican! I guess we loss the business but got the cars. We use to start out walking on Race St going "out the Road" with no concern. Today we would take a cab to Mr Coots store from Big Rob’s house on Race St. I guess this is called progress! LOL

I have a Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Telephone Directory from August 1956. These guys let their customers use their fingers to walk thru the yellow pages (all the pages are yellow now). Willie Partlow is not listed in the yellow pages but his residence number is listed as: Willie Partlow, 526 Boone Street LEnox 4-5014.

How could I forget my neighbor’s taxi cab? Robert Garner. Preacher Harrison also drove for Charles Hargrove.
