Breaking News, Gainesville Colored School Under Contruction

Work began Monday on the construction of a new school building for colored children of Gainesville, located in the block bounded by Hunter, Fair, and Hill Streets near the site of the former building. It is being erected under WPA supervision.

The structure will be of brick, 120 x 222 feet, and contain an auditorium of 40 x 60 feet, together with 14 classrooms, cloakrooms and necessary equipment.

Present plans call for steam heat for the building. It will cost approximately $ 40,000.00 and will be the most modern for colored children in the state. E.P. Ledford is superintending the work.
